Prepare the task
Begin on the exact page your viewer will begin on. Close unrelated tabs, dismiss notifications, and use realistic but non-sensitive example data.
Aim for one outcome per guide. If the task has several independent outcomes, make several shorter guides instead.
While recording
- Click at a natural pace; ShowHow captures the state before each meaningful action.
- Wait for a page or menu to settle before choosing the next control.
- Use Add manual step when the viewer needs an explanation but there is no click to capture.
- Use Pause if you need to prepare something that should not become part of the guide.
- Finish as soon as the successful result is visible.
