What the dashboard measures
- Starts: settled viewing sessions that began the guide.
- Completions: sessions that reached the completion screen.
- Completion rate: completions divided by starts.
- Step funnel: the furthest step reached in each viewing session.
- Visible time: time the guide was actually visible to the viewer.
- Traffic source, viewing mode, and broad device category.
Use the data to improve a guide
A sharp drop at one step often means the instruction is unclear, the highlighted target is hard to find, or the viewer has already learned what they needed. Check the step in context before adding more explanation.
Compare guide versions after republishing. A simpler title, tighter crop, or shorter path can be more useful than adding extra steps.
Privacy-first by design
Analytics are anonymous. ShowHow does not retain viewer IP addresses, full referrer URLs, cookies, fingerprints, precise location, email addresses, or viewer identity.
Detailed analytics are retained for 24 months. You can download the retained analytics records as JSON from Settings.
