What ShowHow protects automatically

Password, payment-card, one-time passcode, and fields marked data-showhow-sensitive are covered before a screenshot is stored. ShowHow does not read or store what you type into page fields.

Automatic protection is a safety net for recognised fields. Anything else that is visible on the page can appear in a screenshot, including names, email addresses, account numbers, and notifications.

Add a privacy mask

  1. Before recording, select Add privacy mask in the extension.
  2. Select an element on the page, or drag over the exact area you want to hide.
  3. Choose Solid for the strongest and clearest concealment, or Strong blur when page context needs to remain visible.
  4. Check the masked page before selecting Start recording.

Run Privacy review before publishing

Typing animations are authored after capture, so their demonstration text is intentionally stored in the guide. Privacy review lists every one of those values in one place.

  • Remove or replace any value that should not be shared.
  • Preview every step, including states reached after typing or navigation.
  • When in doubt, use neutral sample data rather than a real customer or employee record.
